1) Elderly man assaulted in barrie road rage incident: police

Barrie Police are investigating a reported road rage incident in which an elderly man was allegedly assaulted.

On Wednesday, police say there was a collision on Duckworth Street near Highway 400, and a male driver exited his vehicle and allegedly assaulted the other motorist.

The suspect is believed to have fled in a gold-coloured Dodge Journey.

The victim, an 86-year-old man, was treated for his injuries at the scene.

Police say the driver is a white man, possibly in his 40s, with a medium build and brown hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt, a red-and-grey hat, black pants, and black-and-white Converse shoes.

2) Barrie police investigating east-end vehicle theft, seek public assistance

Barrie police are appealing to the public for further information regarding the theft of a vehicle in the city’s east end on Thursday.

Between 1:40 a.m. and 5 a.m., two suspects were seen on home surveillance cameras checking door handles of vehicles in the area of Dunsmore Lane and Quinlan Road.

One car had its window smashed before items were taken from inside, while at around 4:25 a.m., another vehicle was stolen from a Quinlan Road driveway, last seen heading north.

Police say the first suspect was wearing a navy-blue sweater, blue hat, black shorts, white shoes with black, and carrying a black backpack.

The second suspect was wearing a white sweater/jacket, beige/brown pants, a hat, and white Nike shoes. He has long blonde/light brown hair tied in a ponytail and carried a backpack with a patterned side bag.

Anyone living in the area with surveillance cameras or witnessed anything suspicious is asked to contact police.

3)Two arrested after Innisfil drug trafficking investigation

Two Innisfil residents face drug-related charges after an investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and South Simcoe Police.

On Wednesday, OPP say officers arrested an individual before executing a search warrant at an Innisfil residence where a second person was also arrested.

As a result of the searches, police say they seized 19 grams of cocaine, 39 grams of fentanyl, $100 in Canadian currency, various knives, three cellular devices, and digital scales and packaging.

The suspects, a 27-year-old and a 38-year-old, were released with a future court date in Bradford.

4)Two arrested after LCBO theft, stolen Camaro crashes into police cruiser in Innisfil

Two men are facing charges, and a South Simcoe Police cruiser may need a repair job after officers responded to an LCBO in Innisfil Wednesday when staff reported a pair of individuals and a vehicle that matched the descriptions linked to a theft at a liquor store in Barrie.

Police say staff reported that one of the men entered the LCBO and placed eight bottles of alcohol into a basket. When the employees were briefly away from the register, it’s alleged the individual left the store without paying for the items.

Once outside, the man noticed responding officers.

He ditched the basket and attempted to flee on foot, but was arrested.

Police say the other male was in a Chevrolet Camaro that was reported stolen in Peel Region.

As officers approached the vehicle, police say the driver attempted to flee and accelerated into a marked police cruiser parked behind the Camaro.

There were no injuries.

Police say the vehicle contained a stolen Ontario licence plate and eight bottles of alcohol that had been reported stolen from the Barrie LCBO.

Both suspects were written up on a variety of charges and held for a bail hearing.

5)Gold chain stolen during distraction theft in Bradford West Gwillimbury

South Simcoe Police are looking for two men after a distraction theft in Bradford West Gwillimbury.

It happened Tuesday afternoon near Tyndall Drive and Chelsea Crescent.

Police say the victim was at a community mailbox when a black SUV pulled up nearby.

Two men inside asked for directions to Walmart.

After the victim gave them directions, the men handed over several pieces of jewellery to look at.

While the victim was looking at the jewellery, police say one of the men leaned out of the passenger window and took a gold chain off the victim’s neck.

The suspects fled at a high rate of speed, heading north on Tyndall Drive before turning east onto Chelsea Crescent.

Both suspects are described as about 30 years old, with brown complexions. One was wearing a beige T-shirt and dark pants. The other was wearing a light-coloured T-shirt and dark pants.

6)Traffic stop on Highway 400 in Barrie leads to arrest, seizure of crystal meth

A traffic stop on Highway 400 in Barrie turned into a drug bust.

Ontario Provincial Police say they pulled over a vehicle for traffic violations, including an expired registration.

During the stop, police say officers spotted cannabis in the vehicle.

Police say a search revealed a quantity of crystal meth.

The driver is facing drug possession charges and provincial offences for coated headlights, expired registration, and no insurance.

7)Second officer with Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachment charged with sexual assault this week

Another officer with Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachment has been charged with sexual assault this week.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says Sgt. Blake Hamilton has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of breach of trust.

According to the SIU, the alleged offences occurred in December 2025 against a woman in Tay Township, and that it was made aware of the allegations by the OPP on Feb. 24, 2026.

Hamilton was arrested at SIU headquarters on Tuesday and released on several conditions, including an order not to communicate directly or indirectly with the alleged victim.

The charges come one day after another Southern Georgian Bay OPP officer, Const. Zahid Javid, was charged with three counts of sexual assault and three counts of breach of trust.

The SIU said those allegations involve three women and date back between August 2024 and October 2025.

It said the investigation began after the OPP notified the SIU in February of this year about an allegation involving sexual assault by an officer against a woman. During the investigation, the SIU said it uncovered separate allegations involving two additional women.

Both accused are to appear in court in Midland on Sept. 10, 2026.

None of the allegations against either officer have been proven in court.

8)Motorist blows nearly 3x the legal limit after Barrie Police spot ‘swerving’ vehicle

Barrie Police rounded up a pair of suspected impaired drivers during traffic stops early Monday.

Around 12:30, police say a traffic stop was initiated on Lakeshore Drive between Tiffin Street and Minet’s Point Road after officers spotted the vehicle “swerving” all over the road. During a search of the vehicle, police say they found empty beer cans in the driver’s side door.

Police say a 43-year-old Woodville man was taken to police headquarters for a breath test, where he allegedly blew nearly three-and-a-half times the legal limit.

He was charged with impaired driving by alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired over 80.

A few hours later, another driver was stopped after an officer saw a vehicle being driven without headlights on.

Police say the officer smelled alcohol and a roadside test was conducted.

The 23-year-old Barrie man was arrested and, like the first driver, was charged with impaired operation and operating with a blood alcohol concentration over 80.

The charges have not been proven in court.

9)Police seeking public help after cottage robbery in Muskoka Lakes

Provincial police are appealing to the public after a cottage in Muskoka Lakes was broken into on the evening of August 7.

Bracebridge OPP say they responded around 10:45 p.m. to a report of a break and enter and theft that occurred around 7:30 p.m.

The complainant reported that four unknown suspects entered through an unlocked door and stole $5,000 in cash and a ring valued at $25,000. They then left in a blue pontoon boat with a white top.

Police are asking anyone in the area of Rosseau Lake Road 1 who may have video surveillance on the lake, to check their cameras for possible information around the time of the incident.
