Due to the forecasted high temperatures, the City of Barrie will make all public facilities available (during normal operating hours) for cooling centres. The cooling centres will remain open until the heat warning is lifted.
Curbside collection
To ensure collection, residents should place all materials at the curb by 7 a.m. on their collection day and keep them out until 7 p.m., as extreme heat conditions may result in delays.
Heat reminders
Rest frequently in shaded areas.
Drink plenty of fluids.
Never leave infants, children or pets in a parked car.
Dress in cool, loose clothing and shade your head with a hat or umbrella.
Check regularly on family, friends or neighbours who are at higher risk of heat-related illnesses and who do not have air conditioning.
Seek shelter indoors or in the shade.

Visit one of four beaches along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay.Only Centennial and Johnson’s Beach have lifeguards in the summer. Residents are reminded to practice water safety; there is no substitute for parent supervision. Stay within arm’s reach, swim with a buddy and get trained. Due to the current heat warning issued by Environment Canada, the City of Orillia will open air-conditioned cooling and hydration centres for public use
June 30 to July 3, 2026. The City encourages anyone – especially those susceptible to extreme heat – to make use of the centres. The cooling centres will remain open until the heat warning is lifted however the Canada Day holiday will affect location opening and hours.
