OPP Investigation – help needed: OPP renews appeal one year after fatal New Tecumseth hit-and-run

On the one-year anniversary of a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle in New Tecumseth, investigators continue to seek answers with a renewed appeal for information.

On Sunday, August 24, 2025, at around 1:30 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on 13th Line, near Adjala-Tecumseth Townline.

A 23-year-old man from Newfoundland, who was visiting New Tecumseth, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the vehicle was a 2020-2025 Ford Escape. A right rear air deflector was located at the crash scene.

Police are asking the driver to come forward, noting they may not have realized someone was on the roadway.
