Barrie police tape and evidence markers are outside an apartment building near Worsley and Poyntz streets where a 64-year-old man was found unconscious and later died.
Barrie Police are investigating what is being considered a suspicious death after a 64-year-old man was found lying unconscious outside a Collier Street apartment building downtown.
Emergency crews were called to an alley beside a building in the area of Worsley Street and Poyntz Street just after 9 a.m. Thursday. The man was rushed to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
“His injuries appear to be consistent with a fall,” police said in a news release.
Investigators have been canvassing the area for surveillance video and information, and say the man has been visiting someone living in the building who has not yet been located.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled for today at the Centre for Forensic Sciences in Toronto.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on the grounds of Waypoint Mental Health Care on Church Street in Penetanguishene.
Police say emergency crews were called to the hospital property around 10 this morning after a pedestrian was struck by a delivery vehicle.
The pedestrian is a 61-year-old woman, identified as a hospital employee, and police say she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No charges have been laid at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.

2)OPP investigating multi-vehicle collision on Highway 93 in Tiny

Provincial police are investigating a multi-vehicle collision that happened Saturday night in Tiny, which resulted in charges for one driver.
Southern Georgian Bay OPP say their officers responded to the report of the crash on Highway 93 near Stamp Road at 10:50 p.m.
The driver of one vehicle was taken to local hospital with serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.
As a result, an 18-year-old from Midland was charged with careless driving.
The area was closed for approximately four hours but has since re-opened and cleared of debris, according to police.
3)OPP put down injured bear following crash in Tiny Township

A collision involving a bear in Tiny Township ended with police having to euthanize the injured animal.
Southern Georgian Bay OPP say officers responded to Concession 11 around 10 a.m. Monday after a vehicle struck a large adult male bear.
The crash damaged the vehicle, while the bear suffered serious injuries. Police say the bear was found near the scene and had to be put down.
OPP worked with local Indigenous community partners to ensure the bear was respectfully harvested following the incident.
Police are reminding motorists to stay alert for wildlife, especially in rural and wooded areas where animal activity can increase during the early morning and evening hours.
