The annual Georgian College Auto Show returns June 6, continuing its run as Canada’s largest student-run outdoor car show, and there’s a new theme: “Discover Your Drive.”
Running from June 6 to 8 at Georgian’s Barrie campus rain or shine, students at the College’s Automotive Business School of Canada (ABSC) are the sole organizers of the event.
The auto show is what the students work toward throughout their time at the ABSC, and provides a way for them to gain more experience within the field and shine a light on its future.
“The Georgian College Auto Show is more than just a car show. It’s the culmination of everything we’ve learned in the classroom brought to life,” said Neven Freyberg, ABSC student. “We’re not just showcasing cars – we’re showcasing the future of the automotive industry.”
Freyburg also serves as the director of marketing and media relations for the auto show, one of five student directors for the show.
After last year’s theme of “Redline Revolution,” the 2025 theme is “Discover Your Drive.” The theme aims to have guests get involved with the programming through hands-on activations.
At least 17 major vehicle manufacturers and 21 brands will appear at his year’s auto show featuring their latest models, including German brand Mercedes-Benz, which is returning to Georgian for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Returning from 2024 is an exciting experience in which guests can take a ride on a drift track with a professional driver in a Porsche sports car. In 2024, it featured a 911 Turbo and was free with general admission.
There’s also an EV test track, KidZone. a dog show, as well as food and local vendors on-site.
One of the new additions this year is a micromobility section, where guests can test electric bikes and scooters.
Georgian’s ABSC has a two-year diploma program and a four-year degree honour’s program. The program also boasts a 90 per cent employment rate within the automotive industry.
